How much does branding cost in Lagos? An NGN and USD guide

Real 2026 prices for a logo, a small identity and a full brand system in Lagos, plus official trademark fees, designer salaries and why naira prices move.

Branding in Lagos costs anything from about ₦25,000 for a logo to several million naira for a full brand system from an established agency. Published logo packages from Lagos studios typically cost ₦25,000 to ₦90,000, a small identity with business cards and stationery about ₦50,000 to ₦175,000, and a complete identity with research, a logo, colours and type from about ₦260,000 at the lowest published price. Agencies that publish their rates mostly start projects at USD 1,000 or more, about ₦1.3 million. Registering the trademark with the government costs about ₦31,000 per class in official fees.

This guide sets out where those numbers come from, what you actually get at each price, and how to budget when the naira moves. Every figure is sourced at the end.

Logo packages

Several Lagos studios publish fixed logo prices. In October 2026, standard packages with three or four concepts, revisions and source files started around ₦25,000 to ₦27,500, mid-tier packages ran ₦45,000 to ₦90,000, and top tiers with printed cards or a small website reached ₦150,000 to ₦175,000. Some cheap options are built with logo maker apps rather than designed from scratch, so ask how the logo is made.

A logo package is fine when you need a mark quickly. What it rarely includes is positioning, a colour and type system, rules for use, or the applications a fintech or consumer brand needs: an app icon, social templates, a deck.

A full brand identity

The lowest published fixed price we found for a complete identity in Lagos, with research, logo, colours, typefaces and mockups over six to twelve weeks, was ₦260,000 to ₦351,000. Larger agencies do not publish prices. On Clutch's Lagos branding list, the Nigeria-based firms on the first page mostly set a minimum project of USD 1,000, about ₦1.33 million, with a few at USD 5,000 to 10,000 or more.

Their hourly rates, as self-reported on Clutch on 1 October 2026:

Hourly rateFirms
Under USD 254
USD 25 to 4913
USD 50 to 9910
USD 100 to 14911
USD 150 to 3003

What raises the price is the strategy work and the system around the logo: positioning, naming, guidelines, and the applications the brand must work on. For a fintech, those applications include an app icon, store graphics and every message customers receive. Our guide to fintech branding in Nigeria explains why they matter for trust.

Hiring a designer instead

If you would rather hire, salary sites and job boards give a sense of the market. Glassdoor showed a median total pay of about ₦172,000 a month for graphic designers in Nigeria in October 2026, across 357 salaries, with a typical range of about ₦82,000 to ₦253,000. Jobberman described typical pay for creative and design roles in Lagos as ₦150,000 to ₦250,000 a month, and senior or lead roles advertised ₦300,000 to ₦400,000.

A brand designer on staff is valuable once the brand exists and needs constant production. Creating the brand system in the first place is usually a project.

Freelancers

Nigeria has a large freelance design market. On Fiverr, more than 1,900 logo design gigs were listed by sellers in Nigeria in October 2026; starting prices on the first page ran from USD 5 to 80, with a median around USD 20. Experienced independent designers quote much higher: one published rate runs from ₦50,000 to ₦500,000 for a logo.

Trademark costs and timing

Your brand is only yours once it is registered. The official fees published by the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry (IPO Nigeria) are:

StepOfficial fee
Search₦2,500
New application₦16,750
Certificate₦11,750
Renewal₦15,500

That is about ₦31,000 per class for search, filing and certificate. Most companies use a lawyer or agent; one Lagos firm quotes USD 299 for a single-class application including government and attorney fees. The process runs through search, filing, examination, publication in the Trademarks Journal and a two-month opposition window before the certificate, and law firms put the total at 12 to 24 months. Talk to a lawyer before you commit to a name. This is not legal advice.

Budgeting when the naira moves

Any price set in dollars, including agency minimums, platform fees and many international services, changes in naira terms with the exchange rate. The CBN's official rate moved between about ₦1,315 and ₦1,475 to the dollar over the twelve months to September 2026, a swing of around 12%. If a quote is in dollars, agree the rate or the payment dates before you start.

Where we sit, honestly

We are not a ₦25,000 logo shop. We are a senior team that builds brand systems for founders, often fintech and technology companies selling beyond Nigeria. Every project starts with a paid trial week, USD 1,500 (about ₦2 million), on positioning and a first visual direction, with first designs inside 48 hours. If the week works, you get a full scope and one fixed quote in dollars; if it does not, you keep what we made. See how we approach branding for Lagos startups.

How to compare quotes

  1. Ask what is included beyond the logo: positioning, colours, type, guidelines, applications.
  2. Ask how many concepts and revisions, and who designs them.
  3. Check you receive every source file and own the rights.
  4. Make sure the mark works at app icon size and in one colour.
  5. Ask whether name and trademark checks are included or left to you.
  6. If the quote is in dollars, agree the exchange rate or payment schedule.

Sources and method

We collected public prices on 2 October 2026. Converted at about ₦1,329 to USD 1.

We will refresh these numbers every six months.
