How much does a website cost in Malaysia? A MYR guide

Real 2026 website prices in Malaysia, from RM1,000 template packages to custom corporate and e-commerce sites, plus salaries and running costs.

A website in Malaysia can cost anything from about RM1,000 to well over RM50,000. In published packages, a basic template site of five to ten pages typically costs RM1,000 to 5,000, a custom-designed marketing site usually starts around RM4,500 to 8,000 and often runs to RM30,000 for a corporate site, and a custom e-commerce build commonly lands between RM15,000 and 35,000. Then there are running costs: hosting or a platform plan, a domain and maintenance, from about RM40 to well over RM1,000 a month.

This guide sets out where those numbers come from, what you get at each level, and how to compare quotes fairly. Every figure is sourced at the end.

Template packages: RM1,000 to 5,000

Many Malaysian web companies publish fixed packages. Across the ones we checked, a one-page site starts at about RM480 to 1,800, a five-page site at about RM1,000 to 3,000 and a ten-page site at about RM2,900 to 5,000, often with the first year of hosting and a domain included. Renewals for hosting and domain then run about RM250 to 1,500 a year.

What you usually get is a professionally set-up theme with your content and logo. What you usually do not get is custom design, copywriting, research or a structure planned around how your buyers decide. For a small business that needs a credible presence quickly, that can be exactly right.

Custom marketing sites: RM4,500 to 30,000

A custom site is designed for your brand and your buyers, page by page. The cheapest published custom packages start around RM4,500 to 6,800. Agency estimates for custom SME and corporate sites sit around RM8,000 to 30,000, and enterprise or government-linked projects go higher.

The price climbs with:

  • the number of unique page designs, not just the number of pages
  • copywriting and content planning
  • several languages (Malay, English and Chinese versions are real extra work; see our guide to multilingual websites in Malaysia)
  • integrations: CRM, booking, payments, search
  • the platform and who will run it afterwards

E-commerce: RM2,600 to 50,000+

Template WooCommerce shops start around RM2,600 to 4,200 for ten to fifteen pages with unlimited products, and published e-commerce packages run up to about RM9,850 for twelve pages. Agency estimates for custom e-commerce are about RM15,000 to 35,000 for mid-range builds and past RM50,000 for complex ones. Payments are part of the work: Malaysian shoppers expect FPX online banking, DuitNow and e-wallets at checkout, through your payment provider.

Doing it in-house or with a freelancer

If you would rather hire, salary data from job sites gives a sense of the cost:

RoleMonthly salary (RM)Source
Web designer, Malaysiaabout 1,800 to 4,800, average about 2,950Indeed, 167 salaries
Web designer, Kuala Lumpuraverage about 3,260Indeed, 45 salaries
Web designer, from job adsabout 3,400 to 5,300JobStreet
Front-end developerabout 5,050 to 7,550JobStreet
Front-end developer, Kuala Lumpuraverage about 7,085Indeed, 323 salaries

Freelance rates are less well documented. Agency and platform guides suggest roughly RM50 to 350 an hour, or RM1,000 to 4,000 for a one to five-page site, but there is no independent survey, so treat these as indicative.

Agencies in Kuala Lumpur

Clutch lists hourly rate bands for agencies. On the first page of its Kuala Lumpur web design list (30 September 2026), 4 firms showed USD 25 to 49 an hour (about RM102 to 200), 7 showed USD 50 to 99 (about RM204 to 404) and 5 showed USD 100 to 149 (about RM408 to 608), with minimum projects from USD 1,000 to 25,000.

Running costs people forget

ItemTypical cost
.com.my domainabout RM60 to 80 a year
Shared hostingabout RM30 to 200 a month on yearly promotions
Webflow site planUSD 15 to 39 a month (about RM61 to 160), more for e-commerce
Framer site planUSD 10 to 30 a month on yearly billing (about RM41 to 122)
WordPress maintenanceabout RM250 to 1,200 a month for care plans

A platform such as Webflow or Framer usually costs more per month than cheap shared hosting, but it removes most plugin updates and security patching, which is where WordPress care plans earn their fee.

How we price

We do not sell packages. Every project starts with a paid trial week, USD 1,500 (about RM6,100), on your homepage direction and site structure, with first designs inside 48 hours. If the week works, you get a full page list and one fixed quote for the site; if not, you keep what we made. See how we approach website design for Kuala Lumpur companies.

How to compare quotes

  1. Count unique page designs, not pages.
  2. Ask whether design is custom or a theme, and see examples.
  3. Ask who writes the copy and who sets up SEO.
  4. Check the renewal and maintenance price, not just the first year.
  5. Ask who owns the site, the domain and the files.
  6. Make sure payments, forms and PDPA consent text are in scope if you need them.
