Healthcare case studies: hospital dashboards, doctor booking and care apps

Five healthcare design case studies: a hospital management dashboard, a doctor booking platform and its iOS app, a medical software website and a mental wellbeing platform. Each shows the research, the flows and every screen.

What these healthcare projects have in common

Healthcare software is used by people under pressure: an admin covering a ward, a patient looking for a doctor tonight, someone in recovery opening an app on a bad day. So every project here is designed to be readable at a glance and calm to use. The most urgent information comes first, actions are spelled out in plain words, and nothing important hides behind an icon.

The healthcare projects

  • Mediso is a hospital management dashboard: billing, arrivals, surgeries, doctors, patients, appointments and 16 departments in one web platform.
  • VitalHealth is a healthcare SaaS for finding and booking trusted doctors, with dashboards for the clinics behind it, more than 50 screens.
  • CareUp is an AI healthcare app for iOS for finding a doctor and booking an appointment, with an AI health assistant.
  • Wave is a Webflow website for medical software covering electronic health records, telehealth, billing and analytics.
  • Sovia is a website and app screens for a digital health platform supporting people with addiction and mental wellbeing problems.

How I approach healthcare product design

I start with the roles: who books, who treats, who manages, and what each of them must never miss. On Mediso that meant billing, arrivals and urgent reports on one screen, then a straight path to any doctor, patient or department. On the patient side, as in CareUp and VitalHealth, it means getting from a symptom or a speciality to a booked slot in as few steps as possible, with the doctor's details visible before anyone commits. For more on the work itself, see my healthcare product design page.

Frequently asked questions

  • The users and their situations, the main flows (finding care, booking, managing records), and how the design handles sensitive information and urgent cases. The case studies here also show the research and process behind the screens, from wireframes to the final UI and style guide.

  • Yes. Mediso and VitalHealth are dashboards for the people running hospitals and clinics, CareUp is a patient app, and Wave and Sovia are websites. The same rules apply on both sides: urgent things first, plain words and one consistent layout.

  • Yes. I build web apps in React and Next.js and mobile apps in React Native or Flutter, from a documented design system and handoff. A project starts with a free 30 minute intro call, then a written scope and one fixed quote.
