Product designer in Singapore, Southeast Asia

Product designer in Singapore for products that launch across Southeast Asia

As your product designer in Singapore, I lead the team that designs apps and dashboards for startups that launch at home and then across the region, with Singpass, PayNow and the PDPA planned from the first screen. I'm Maniruzzaman Jubayer, working from Dhaka, two hours behind you, so your late morning and afternoon are our shared working time.

Singapore is the first market, rarely the last, so the design system has to travel.

Product design in Singapore: four problems teams bring me

Singapore took about 60% of ASEAN venture deal volume in 2024, according to Enterprise Singapore, and the e-Conomy SEA 2025 report puts the region's digital economy above $300 billion in GMV. Products built here are aimed at that whole market, and the design has to keep up.

  • Problem 01

    One product, ten markets

The e-Conomy SEA report now tracks ten countries, each with its own languages, wallets and habits. A design made only for Singapore breaks at the border. I build the system for several languages, currencies and payment methods from the start, so the next market means new content, not a redesign.

  • Problem 02

Regulated flows that read like paperwork

Payment products answer to MAS under the Payment Services Act, and onboarding quickly fills with checks and disclosures. I design identity, consent and disclosure steps that stay short and clear, with Myinfo pre-fill where your provider supports it, and your compliance team approves every word.

  • Problem 03

    Users from 18 to 80

Singapore is now a super-aged society, with 21.4% of citizens aged 65 or older in 2026. Small grey type and clever gestures leave many of them behind. I design to WCAG AA contrast, generous touch targets and plain words, and test with older users when the product serves them.

  • Problem 04

Senior designers are hard to hire

Singapore ranks fourth in StartupBlink's 2025 index of startup ecosystems, so every company is chasing the same senior designers. My team starts once the scope is signed, stays for the whole design system and works beside the people you already have.

Work picked for Singapore and the region

An AI healthcare app for finding a doctor and booking, a sales CRM showing performance in real time and an AI influencer marketing platform, all designed by my team. Each one answers a Singapore pattern: an ageing population, sales teams that cover the region, and creator-led commerce growing across Southeast Asia.

Is your next market already on the roadmap? Let's design for it now.

What I design for Singapore products

Six deliverables, agreed in writing up front, so a regional launch brings new content rather than new problems.

  • A regional design system

Tokens, type and components that hold up in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil, then Bahasa Indonesia, Thai or Vietnamese when your roadmap reaches them.

  • Singpass and Myinfo journeys

Sign-up and login screens built around Singpass, with Myinfo pre-fill designed so users can check every detail before they submit.

  • PayNow and regional payments

Pay and request flows for PayNow by mobile number, UEN or QR code, plus cards and the wallets your next markets prefer.

  • PDPA-ready consent

Notices, opt-outs, consent withdrawal and breach messages designed as real screens and emails, ready for your legal team's wording.

  • Accessible by default

WCAG AA contrast, large touch targets and readable type, so the product works for retirees as well as students.

  • Handoff, or the build

Annotated Figma files and a live session with your engineers, or my team codes the front end in React and Next.js.

How a Singapore project runs, in four steps

My product design process in four steps, planned around Singapore hours and the market you open next.

  1. 01

    Free 30 minute intro call

We meet by video in your late morning. Tell me about the product, the first market and the next one, and I will say plainly whether my team is the right fit.

  2. 02

Written scope and one fixed quote

Every flow, language and payment method goes on paper, with the Singpass and PDPA touchpoints and a timeline. One fixed price covers all of it, and there is no retainer.

  3. 03

    Design sprints with regional checks

Weekly Figma sprints, with progress posted in Slack every two days. Key flows are tested remotely with users in Singapore and, where it matters, in your next market.

  4. 04

    Handoff and build

Your engineers get a documented system and a working session, or my team codes the front end for you. Either way, I review the live product with you before it ships.

Industries Singapore is building, and what their products need

Enterprise Singapore names deep tech, fintech and AI among the ecosystem's focus areas, and Startup Genome adds life sciences and cleantech. The screen on each tile comes from our own work in that field; none of it was made for a Singapore company.

  • Fintech and payments

Payment firms here are licensed by MAS under the Payment Services Act, and many test ideas in the MAS sandbox first. Their products need quick onboarding, honest disclosures, PayNow flows and statements in several currencies.

  • AI products

Singapore launched Smart Nation 2.0 in 2024, and Startup Genome ranks it third in Asia for AI-native companies. AI products here need plain explanations of what the model does, easy corrections and controls users trust.

  • Health and eldercare

With more than one in five citizens now 65 or older, health products have to suit older eyes and hands. They need large type, simple booking, family access and careful consent for health data.

  • Logistics and e-commerce

Video commerce is heading for a quarter of the region's e-commerce GMV, says e-Conomy SEA. Products that move orders across borders need live tracking, multi-currency checkout and dispatcher views that stay clear at volume.

  • Cleantech and mobility

Startup Genome lists cleantech as a Singapore strength, backed by the Decarbonisation Grand Challenge. Energy and charging products need charger maps, live status, simple booking and reports that turn meter data into plain numbers.

  • B2B software for the region

Singapore counts 26 active unicorns, per Startup Genome. Business tools built here for customers across ASEAN need fast tables, solid roles and permissions, and English first with local languages ready to switch on.

How I work with your team in Singapore

Remote from Dhaka, close to your day, your rules and your next market.

  • You talk to me and the makers

Nobody relays messages for us. The people you message are me and the designers and developers on your product, together in a single channel.

  • Your late morning is our working day

Dhaka is two hours behind Singapore, so we share 6 hours of your day. Dhaka rests on Friday and Saturday, so I plan reviews and sprint demos for Monday to Thursday, when both teams are at work.

  • Everything written and tracked

Every design sits in Figma and every decision gets recorded. Expect a written progress note every two days and one call a week showing what moved and what comes next.

  • I know the Singapore stack

Singpass and Myinfo, PayNow, MAS licensing, the PDPA's consent and breach rules, four official languages and an ageing population are in my brief from the first call.

Who I help in Singapore

Four kinds of team come to me from Singapore. If you see yours here, the intro call is the quickest way to check the fit.

  • Funded startups after seed or Series A

You have a product to prove before the next round. I design the core flows and a design system that is ready for a second market, so growth never means starting the interface again.

  • Scale-ups opening the next market

Indonesia, Malaysia or Vietnam is on the plan. I adapt flows for new languages, wallets and rules while keeping one design system, so every market feels local and your developers keep one codebase.

  • Regulated fintech and health teams

Products under a MAS licence or handling health data need extra care. I design onboarding, disclosures and consent your compliance team can review line by line, and still keep each flow short.

  • Enterprise innovation teams

Large companies testing a new digital product need speed without vendor chaos. I run focused design sprints, then hand over a tested prototype and a system your vendors can build from, with every decision written down.

A regional launch usually needs more than product design.

Product designer in Singapore: frequently asked questions

The questions Singapore teams raise most, answered in plain words.

What does a product designer in Singapore cost?

There is no rate card; the scope sets it. How many flows you need, how many languages and markets the first release covers, any Singpass or PayNow journeys, research across markets and front-end build are the big drivers. Once we have spoken for 30 minutes, free, I put the scope in writing with a single fixed price for everything in it, and no retainer.

Can one design system cover several Southeast Asian markets?

Yes, if it is planned for that from the start. I set up tokens, type and components for several scripts, currencies, date formats and payment methods, and test long Malay, Indonesian and Tamil labels early. Adding a market then means new content and local checks, not a new design. My guide to multilingual websites in Malaysia shows the same approach.

Do you design Singpass sign-in and Myinfo forms?

Yes, the screens and every state. Singpass gives about 5 million users access to more than 2,700 services from 800 government agencies and businesses, and Myinfo can pre-fill forms once they log in. I design sign-in, consent to share and review steps so users see exactly what was filled in. Your developers handle the technical integration.

Can you design for MAS-regulated fintech?

Yes. Payment firms are licensed under the Payment Services Act 2019, and many test new products in the MAS FinTech Regulatory Sandbox before a full licence. I design onboarding, risk disclosures and transaction screens that stay clear and quick, while your compliance team approves the rules and the wording. The flow never hides what users are meant to see.

What does the PDPA mean for my product's design?

It adds screens and states. Since the 2021 amendments, organisations can rely on deemed consent by notification when users get a fair chance to opt out, and must tell the PDPC and affected people about notifiable breaches within three calendar days of assessing one. I design those notices, opt-outs and breach messages; your lawyers confirm the legal side.

Do you design PayNow payments?

Yes. PayNow sends money by mobile number, NRIC, UEN or QR code, and it now links with Thailand's PromptPay, Malaysia's DuitNow and India's UPI. I design pay and request flows, QR screens and confirmation states that match what users already see in their banking apps. Your payment provider and developers handle the connection itself.

When can we meet during the Singapore day?

From your late morning to the end of your day. Dhaka is two hours behind Singapore, so we share 6 hours of your working day. Because Dhaka's weekend is Friday and Saturday, I keep calls between Monday and Thursday in your time, and send written updates every 48 hours so nothing waits for a meeting.

Do you design for older users?

Yes, and in Singapore it matters, with 21.4% of citizens now 65 or older. I design to WCAG AA contrast as a minimum, with readable type sizes, large touch targets, plain language and no action that only works with a gesture. Then I test key flows with older users whenever the product is meant to serve them.

How does a Singapore project begin?

Book a free 30 minute call in your Singapore morning or afternoon. Bring the product, your first market and the one after it. A written scope and a single fixed price follow the call, and the first sprint usually begins with the flow that has to work in two markets at once.
